Having trouble getting URL scanning working.
Hello there! I'm running MailEnable Professional 10.31 on Windows Server 2012 R2. I'm not having much luck getting my URL blacklisting working. I've registered my IP address with the Barracuda blacklist. A couple of questions: * where can I find known bad URL/IP addresses to test in emails and in th...

How to route all outbound email to a spam/malware filter
Good morning! I'm running MailEnable Professional 10.25. We've got a simple set up -- one domain, one postoffice. I'm wanting to route all outbound email from MailEnable to an external spam/malware filter service so email is checked before it gets delivered to the destinationserver. I believe I do t...

Oh, right -- I did see that page before, and didn't make the connection between the column headers listed there and the columns in the actual log. Thanks!

Re: smtp dropping emails: what does RSET 250 ... 43 6 mean?
OK, that makes sense. I didn't realize my Untangle was injecting the RSET. Still curious what the 43 6 (& similar response codes) mean -- are those from MailEnable or someone else in the mail's path?

Re: smtp dropping emails: what does RSET 250 ... 43 6 mean?
Huh. We do have a security appliance -- Untangle -- between the MailEnable server and our edge router. Are you saying that Untangle is doing something that causes the sending mail server to send the RSET? That's possible. I'll review both the untangle logs and the MailEnable logs and make sure we're...

Re: block incoming email to an address that doesn't exist
Thanks. That makes sense. I don't believe we have a catchall enabled, I'll check. Now I just need to figure out why some valid incoming email is getting rejected by MailEnable! I'll spend some more time with the logs...

Re: smtp dropping emails: what does RSET 250 ... 43 6 mean?
OK, thanks. I did eventually figure out that the RSET commands were, as you say, the result of MailEnable rejecting an incoming email. Spent some time trying to decode those mysterious numbers 43 6!

smtp dropping emails: what does RSET 250 ... 43 6 mean?
Our mail server isn't receiving some emails. Looking in our logs for incoming SMTP connections: For those that arrive, the SMTP log shows EHLO, MAIL, RCPT, DATA, and QUIT commands. For those that don't arrive, the SMTP log shows EHLO, MAIL, RCPT, RSET, QUIT commands. In the latter case I ?think? the...

Re: block incoming email to an address that doesn't exist
Ah, ok. I was hoping MailEnable had an option hidden somewhere to compare incoming email to existing mailboxes and refuse or quarantine any email addressed to a non-existing mailbox. I don't much want to have to maintain my own filter with all our valid email addresses! Ah well. Thanks.

block incoming email to an address that doesn't exist
Hello! I want to block or quarantine any incoming email addressed to someone who doesn't exist in our local postoffice. Can I do this in MailEnable? I've looked in the SMTP settings, which seems the logical place, and I've looked into filter options, which seems the second most logical place, and I ...

Re: mail stuck in scratch folder
Thanks for the note.
So these files may be leftover from a Clamwin scan, which sometimes fails to delete a file after scanning.
Can I trust that the relevant emails have been safely delivered even though an associated file remains in the scratch folder?

mail stuck in scratch folder
I just noticed I have a couple dozen emails stuck in the MailEnable scratch folder, with dates going back several weeks. I'm running MailEnable 9.74 on Windows Server 2012 R2. I believe the antivirus scanner (clamwin is installed and enabled) and possibly other filters put an email in the scratch fo...

antivirus scanner registry key -- how do error codes work?
I'm looking at the way registry keys are used to define antivirus scanners in MailEnable. In particular, I'm not understanding the way the registry key defines how error codes from the virus scanner are used. I'm looking at the registry key someone posted for using a nod32 scanner with MailEnable. F...
