Still need wildcard processing on mailboxes.

If you use a catchall, you may have already been victim to the spammers who use dictionary attacks, where messages are sent blindly to your domain and, because you have a catchall, you get every one of them. I've seen it shut down businesses. I've had it cost me hours of admin time. Yet there are do...

Oh, heh, just noticed this is the Professional forum, so you might not be running Enterprise. I'm not sure if the "Blocked Addresses" feature is available in professional, but I think it is. Let me know if you can't find it, I suppose it _could_ be an Enterprise only feature. But I think it's in Pr...

Next time your server is dictionary-attacked by a spammer, tell me how valuable the "banned address" feature is. I've been there. I know. Are you saying it is valuable or it isn't valuable? Because if you're saying it isn't valuable (I admit the MMC interface to it is a little unwieldy), then (1) y...

Im sure they working hard on it. I would prefer it take longer and it be 100% stable than rush it out the door. I agree with you. While there are many features I would like (e.g., wildcard processing of addresses -- *master@domain.com, *sales@domain.com, etc.), I've learned to be patient since the ...

If you can create a wihtelist, you can use MartynK antispam program. Unfortunately, I cannot create a whitelist for senders or for recipients. I've handed out way too many custom addresses (starting with underscore) for me to count. What's really frustrating about this is that it would be so easy t...

How do I block this spam?

Asian spammers are bombarding my domain with spam addressed to anti-spam##########@{my domain} where ########## is ten random digits. They use random sender addresses and domains and send through zombie PCs. This has been going on for months now. I have a catchall mailbox which I need because I have...

The emails that fail are from domains that have SPF records. It is because my company does not and also it is an Exchange server that is forwarding the email, and knows nothing about SPF. I don't think that it matters whether your company has an SPF record. The problem is that the SPF record for th...

But at the end of the day, this is still a very new type of filtering. I for example get all my email from work copied to a home account. This works for almost all emails except a few from CNET which seem to Fail. If I used direct SMTP blocking at this time I would lose these emails. Martyn, is tha...

But I will say that the idea of them getting into the MTA and being able to process further from there is very nice. For all of the reasons I noted, my preference would be to block, but I think that it would be good to have options. I'd like to see options for: 1. Block on SPF "fail" 2. Insert head...

Yeah - I know its intended, but the products are locked down until enteprrise is released. Its very much an intended feature for all the reasons you state. I'm happy to learn that it's on the to-do list and that we are on the same wavelength. Re: "So what does MailEnable do if you enable SPF checki...

Both allow you to filter - MailEnable's filter can filter by searching headers for SPF headers. You specify this as a criteria. Assumes 1.5d or Ent. MailEnable SMTP does not currently allow you to block based on SPF tests. Andrew, thanks for the quick (though disappointing) reply. If SPF failures b...

SPF not blocking as it should.

I turned on SPF and I have an SPF record. Therefore, I assumed that all of the virus-forged mail pretending to be from my own domain would be blocked. Not so. Yesterday I got a virus-infected e-mail claiming to be from MAILER-DAEMON@{mydomain.tld} addressed to a random address in my domain. In the h...

MTA Filtering Not Working Properly

I have enabled "MailEnable MTA Message Filter" and created a filter called "Chinese Spam." The filter is set up as follows: Criteria: Where the subject line contains specific words (Enabled) Word List: big5 Actions: Delete Message (Enabled) Yet the following spam message was delivered to my catchall...

Wildcard processing of blocked addresses.

I have a catchall address and have been using the new "blocked addresses" feature of ME Pro 1.5 beta. Today I got up and there was a lot of Chinese spam which had been sent to "anti-spam{bunch of numbers}@{my domain}" So I created a blocked address of anti-spam*@{my domain}. Great. It took the aster...
