You can call the machine anything you like as long as the MX record you have registered in DNS is pointing to the same IP as the machine that is running as your mail server.

As in my last post, does the program when run standalone and create a log file ?

We need to know if the program will even start without ME calling it.

With 2003 you should have all of the required .dlls and the like

What I suggest you do first of all is just run MEFilter.exe from the command line in the MEFilter directory to see if a log file is created. This will tell if you have all the required things (and dll's) setup for the program to run. But looking at the log file, it seems as if ME is not even calling...

I have seen this issue before with mail systems, but NOT MailEnable. What we found it to be was invalid caching of pages on a proxy server, so the same page could be passed to more than one person once they had authenticated to the mail server.

You can basically use any name or domain that you want. You will then be able to send email between the email accounts that you setup on the local machine. You will also be able to send email to any other address on the internet (as long as the machine is connected to the net). The only thing you wi...

It depends what you want to do. A good start is to look at the various scripts and programs that are available from the downloads area. These will give you an idea of what is already available and how things work.

First a word of warning, if you have installed this script without making any modifications it will remove the defined attachments from your emails, which I don't think is what you want. If you think the script is not running, switch on the debug logs for the MTA and see if there are any errors. Als...

I don't know of any specific routine, but you could start by getting a copy of this script http://www.mailenable.com/utilities/addons/MTAPE3.zip and then modify it to save the attachments instead of removing them.

You could split out the attachments using an MTA pickup event. The simple way would be to write a VB scrip using the MS messaging API to extract the actual attachments.

At what point do you want to extract the attachment. Before it is delivered to the inbox or once it is there ?

Can you see if the filter is even starting ? The first thing is does it read the MEFilter.Cfg file. It will then start logging, is there are log file in the Log directory ? If you have not got this then we need to see if the process is even being called. Has the MTA debug logs got any errors while t...

There is a little routine in the downloads section that will do this, you can get to it via http://www.mailenable.com/utilities/addons/MESNOOP.zip

Also I have developed a little filter routine that also allows message coping, you can get a copy at http://www.publicplanet.com/mefilter

You may well find that your Mcafee will work. Most Mcafee versions have a program that comes with it called scan.exe. This is the program that you need to use for virus checking. I have been using VirusScan 7 for ages now without any problems and it seems to catch all emails that contain a virus. On...
