MailEnable URL blacklisting looks up the resolved domains in emails in an RBL (such as the Spamhaus Exploits Block List). It is not totally SURBL compatible, as SURBL requires a lookup of the non-resolved URIs extracted from messages. Thank you, Ian. That really clears things up. I was pulling my h...

Hi, The reason why the URL blacklists are not working for you is because you are using the Sorbl blacklists which are unsupported within MailEnable. Thanks. But how can I tell which ones are supported? I could not find anything about URL blacklisting in the Standard Edition PDF manual. The Professi...

Hi, URL blacklisting is part of the standard v4 kits. Great! Glad to hear it. Apologies for the misleading information. How dare you include more features than promised in a product give to us for free!? Are you experiencing problems configuring URL blacklisting? Oh yes! I configured it to u...

Diagnostic shows two instances of RDNS blacklist

When I run a diagnostic on MaiEnable Standard 2.0, it shows me two identical instances of the Barracuda blacklist: RDNS Blacklist Status BarracudaBRBL Enabled Pass RDNS Blacklist Status BarracudaBRBL Enabled Pass If I uncheck the box to enable RDNS blacklisting and then stop/start SMTP service, the ...

URL Blacklisting On MailEnable Standard

I just rebuilt my server on new hardware and, in the process, moved from MailEnable 1.x Pro to 4.x Standard. After installing 4.x, I was excited to see URL blacklisting. Well, after spending about three hours trying to get it to work, I looked over the feature comparison and saw that it was not supp...

anyword from anyone at ME support is this is something that might getting added in? I wish there was, but it's something that is not getting attention. I'm really disappointed because I really think that this is something that could be done and documented in a couple of days, at the worst, and it w...

Yea I understand your concern. It is almost impossible to use any type of catch-all without opening yourself up to spam. I am considering the ability to block incoming messages based on criteria before the SMTP server ever accepts them. I want the spammers to know the messages have not been receive...

Update. This VB Script will analyze the message header to detect if the catch-all filter has been activated. If so then you can determine if the email should be forwarded or deleted. This assumes a CDO message opened with the name 'message'. if instr(lcase(message.fields("urn:schemas:mailheader:rec...

I have given out several hundred addresses that start with a leading underscore and have not tracked them. I have no list of addresses to add.

Any word on this if it is/will get implemented? This is probably my #1 most requested feature. Thanks for writing. I'm sure that a lot of people want it -- especially given how much spam has increased this year. I have not heard anything regarding the feature and I've been asking for this it since ...

Re: I would like to know this also.

I use many addresses also and would like to block a defined set of addresses. Is there a method to block incoming email to addresses that do not fit a filter? like _*.mydomain.com Actually, I think you want to unblock a defined set of addresses and turn off catchall -- which is the same thing that ...

But normally you don't know others honny pots... Ah, the old "security through obscurity" strategy. Sorry, but with my security background, that's not a strategy that I'm comfy with. It's often easy to find honeypot e-mail addresses (for example: http://www.delete.net/) and I can find a bunch of th...

yeah eventually the spammers will figure out to strip out the + but its a step in the right direction. But once it's figured out, the flood gates will open. It only takes one spammer to figure out to strip the + and what follows, and suddenly your primary gmail address is on countless spam lists al...

Something similiar to what you mention is possible with current releases, but has not been documented as such. Specifically, when someone sends to a honeypot address, they can immediately be added to the IP Address Banned list for the server. Root: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mail Enable\Mail Enabl...
