It's possible for mail "addressed" to one person to end up in somebody else's mailbox. The reason is that there are several different places that the recipient's email address is listed. 1) SMTP Envelope Recipient (RCPT TO:) 2) Message To: header 3) Message Cc: header 4) Message Bcc: heaer The SMTP ...

PTR records are configured by your ISP as they own the address block. You can manage PTR records for a class-C block (256 IPs) but only if you get your ISP to delegate that block to ZoneEdit. If you look at DNS Report: http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=stoneentertainment.com You'll ...

I don't disagree with you. That's why technology like SPF and Caller ID will make it easier to have accurate blacklists/whitelists. Unfortunately, right now as you said, it's too easy to have a blacklist cause collateral damage. SPF: http://spf.pobox.com Caller ID: http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/tw...

Sorry for the delay... I keep meaning to finish it, but I keep getting pulled onto other projects. Just curious, do you have Visual Studio .NET 2003? The reason I ask is that: 1) I prefer to write in C#. 2) Since a provider is a standard DLL with exported functions, I had to write that in Managed C+...

Bagel/Beagle cannot be detected by a command line scanner because it does not know the password for decrypting the zip file. Hmm... not sure about that. i'm using McAfee VirusScan and it's picking them up just fine. Here are the virus notifications I get: Virus Notification: Found the W32/Bagle.f!z...

Hmm... not sure I'd rely on e-mail for sensitive material. Plain old snail mail is much more reliable for this kind of stuff. (Or simply pick up the phone).

Download WGET for Windows http://xoomer.virgilio.it/hherold/

Then you can simply schedule a job to run:

wget --http-user=USER --http-passwd=PASS --timestamping http://www.domain.com/file.zip

Actually the interface is not really documented. The Devloper API document tells you how to write client apps that call the ME COM components. It doesn't explain anything about writing your own providers. I'm writing a document and sample code that shows you how to write your own provider. Also, did...

Yeah, unfortunately the virus writers are always finding new ways to exploit the unwitting.

Where can you find the files to edit the messages they get for the Blacklists? Start the ME MMC, and open SMTP Properties. Click on the Reverse DNS Blacklisting tab. Now select a blacklist from the listbox. You will see a text box labled "Response:" Enter the text you want to use. You can add %IP% ...

In ME, all messages are stored on the file system. So each time you go to view your mailbox, it has to scan hundreds, maybe thousands, of files to display the message list. If you ever tried viewing a folder with a lot of files using Explorer, you'll see why it's timing out. I understand that there ...

You're kind of vague about what you're trying to accomplish. I'm assuming that ME is running on Windows 2003 Server you have it configured to read/write data on Windows XP via file share. I believe this is a permission issue. By default, the ME services run under the LocalSystem account. It has exte...

The DNS settings for phpbb.com are not configured correctly. http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=phpbb.com http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/mail.ch?domain=phpbb.com I think ME is less tolerant of misconfigured systems than some other packages. In this instance ME is acting correctly, bu...
