Clustered server to increase MAPI speed?

Our main server is in a different country to our main office. Is it feasible to setup a clustered redundant server at our main office to improve the speed of our MAPI connector among our shared inbox? Or will this just hit the same bottleneck that the MAPI connector is?

In other words is a clustered redundant ME server a viable cache for the server outside of the country?

As a suggestion: it would be nice if the webmail was to perform the same objective that the MAPI connector does.

IE, allow multiple users to share an inbox, support multiple signatures, etc.

I am truly astonished to see that when I login to my webmail I can see the thousands of emails instantly that it takes the MAPI connector sometimes up to 10 minutes to display. - Even when I disable downloading the entire message. I can even search through all of the content in a snap, using webmail.

A team using ME could rock through a shared inbox using webmail, where the MAPI connector cannot unless it's on a LAN.
