ME Enterprice 7.04 IMAP lost emails

Post by stevechurcher »

Hi.

This is quite urgent as I have just experienced a very weird problem.. earlier last week I know I saw an email come in but could never find it again, however I have just witnessed emails coming in, showing in my client, and immediately appearing to delete.. I can then find no trace of them at all within ME!

I am using Enterprice 7.04.. IMAP.. and Outlook 2013

I can see the email in the logs using message tracker:

Trace: Tracing message with Message ID [E9444E95C6F84B6A8E5FC4D838A5BDDB.MAI] from the SMTP Inbound Queue
Status: Message ID [E9444E95C6F84B6A8E5FC4D838A5BDDB.MAI] was routed by the MTA from the SMTP Inbound Queue to 1 destination queue(s)
04/12/13 16:16:02 Queue Route: Message ID [E9444E95C6F84B6A8E5FC4D838A5BDDB.MAI] was routed by the MTA from the SMTP Inbound Queue to the Postoffice Connector (SF) Outbound Queue with a Message ID of [09AF1648072C484C8E4C76459B1BD000.MAI]
04/12/13 16:16:03 [09AF1648072C484C8E4C76459B1BD000.MAI] Delivered message from [SMTP:XXX@live.co.uk] to PO=XXX.co.uk MBX=steve FLD=\Inbox

however this 09AF1648072C484C8E4C76459B1BD000 is no where to be found!

In the IMAP Activity logs I can see this:

04/12/13 16:35:31 IMAP-IN 09AF1648072C484C8E4C76459B1BD000.MAI 3312 80.175.66.226 UID UID STORE 17391 FLAGS.SILENT (\Seen) yvz2 OK UID command completed 31 43 XXX.co.uk steve
04/12/13 16:35:32 IMAP-IN 09AF1648072C484C8E4C76459B1BD000.MAI 3312 80.175.66.226 UID UID STORE 17391 +FLAGS.SILENT (\Seen) f8l4 OK UID command completed 31 44 XXX.co.uk steve

What other logs or entries can I check to see how these messages have been deleted.. the messages do not seem to be in the deleted folder or anywhere!

I am quite worried about this now as I thought I may have deleted the previous message by mistake but his time I actually saw it!

thanks,
Steve

Have you gone to your postoffice structure and done a file search for the missing .MAI file?

Sometimes it is there but the index.xml is messed up and needs to be recreated?

Make sure your AV on the workstation is turned off while testing. I have seen Symantec just eat emails like this.

You may also want to consider turning on your debug logs on a) your ME Server and b) an example workstation - for a while so you can get more info on what exactly is happening? and make a case for ME Support if something is definitely found.

Good luck.

Scott
