Issue SMTP relay (ok after server reboot)

Post by rookie »

Hello Guys!

I'm facing a mysterious issue on Windows Server 2012 R2, with MailEnable Standard (10.20) and Plesk installed. Receiving emails works fine, however relaying messages always stuck/fails. If the Windows Server is rebooted then all previous failed and queued messages are sent with success. Trying to send any new email (relay) will again fail, and being queued. A new server reboot will "fix the problem", i.e. queued emails are sent as supposed to.

What could causing such behavior? To me it looks like something is kicking in after MailEnable service has started (on boot), that interferes/prohibit MailEnable. Blacklisted can't be the cause as emails are received at Gmail (after reboot).

Any tip is welcome.

From ME Debug log I'll typically see:

Code: Select all

03/13/19 10:48:41	ME-E0070: (recv) socket [684] error during [AUTH] command from host 193.169.254.60. Socket was disconnected - Error: (10054)
03/13/19 10:48:41	ME-I0074: [684] (Debug) End of conversation
03/13/19 10:48:59	ME-E0038: [BFB8C192D279406E9DB807BF56733908.MAI] Communications Error: Socket connection to alt4.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com failed (error 10060). The host was either not contactable or it rejected your connection. Socket Family = 2; Host=74.125.195.26; Port=25
In MailEnable "Outbound SMTP queue Status Test"

Code: Select all

The socket connection to the remote host failed. The host was either not contactable or it rejected your connection.
It may be that this server is offline or that you are redirecting Spam to this server and you have been blacklisted. To determine who is redirecting mail to this domain, you should use the Redirection Query Utility. See Also: KB: ME020207.

Hi,

The SMTP debug like reports a 10060 error which is a time out. Are you able to open a Windows command and perform a telnet test to the Gmail server (use the host name in the log file) to see if you can establish a connection? If not then the problem is not MailEnable related and more so a network connectivity problem.
