SMTP connector's response to receiving a 550 response code for an outbound message

Does the SMTP outbound connector resend outbound messages that received an 550 mailbox unavailable response?
Is this behavior configurable? If so, how?

Hi,

550 SMTP errors indicate that an email could not be delivered due to a permanent problem and thus is not retried. There is no option to change this.
