Mixed configuration of SSL and Non SSL Mail domains on a Single Server

Post by naikmanish »

Greetings,

We have Mailenable Enterprise Edition. Version 10.11

Current Environment
We have configured an AWS Windows instance for the mail server.
We are not using any Plesk or other control panel, we have just installed the enterprise edition on a windows instance.
We have a small environment and hosting about 10-15 domains for their individual email services.

example
mail.masterdomain.com
mail.domain1.com
mail.domain2.com
mail.domain3.com
..
..

Each domain also has its own MailAdmin configured
mailadmin.domain1.com
mailadmin.domain2.com
..
..

The mail.masterdomain.com is configured for Reverse DNS and the entire server is utilizing a single IP Address, for. e.g. IP_ONE
SPF records are for the mail.masterdomain.com
All other domains SPF records also contain the mail.masterdomain.com

What we wish to achieve :

However, one of our customers now wants to enable SSL for his particular domain,
for e.g. mail.ssldomain.com

We are happy to add another IP, for e.g IP_TWO_SSL, map this domain to that IP and also ask AWS services to configure RDNS for this domain against this IP, for e.g. mail.ssldomain.com

However, the challenge seems to be that, all our other domains are NonSSL and are working on IP_ONE and we want thay they work in non SSL mode, while one particular domain should work on SSL using IP_TWO_SSL.

Is this possible ?

We have not touched the server as of now and dont want to mess with it, because we wanted to know if this will work at all or if this kind of configuration is supported, before we go ahead and change anything.

Could anybody help and advise us if the above configuration will work at all ?

Thank you so much

Warm Regards

Manish Naik

Hi,

Yes, you can achieve this by configuring post office IP bindings and then bind a specific post office/domain to an IP and SSL certificate.

https://www.mailenable.com/documentation/10.0/Enterprise/Localhost_-_General.html - "Enable post office bindings"
