Blank Emails (Again)

Post by TheDesignFly »

Ok, after some playing around I can see that my problem of blank emails only happens with a filter that adds a header for Junk.

I have re-enabled virus scanning, Bayesian dictionary but not enabled the filter that adds the header. I will go back now and enable this filter but uncheck the add header box and see if this makes a difference (so the message is being scanned but no header added). What will be the best way to get this sorted out, through a support ticket? I thought it best to log this here as this must be a common problem!

Hi,

Reading through your post, it seems i am missing something, did you have any previous posts regarding this issue? We are unaware of any issues when a filter action adds header for junk and blanks out the message. If you have enabled virus scanning then it would be an idea to ensure you have not got the real time scanner running in the background as this can cause blank .mai files to appear in your outgoing mail queues.

The following KB artile explains possible reasons why you get blank messages:

If you are unable to resolve this issue then i suggest you lodge a support request through our Online submission form:

There is a post below, by myself, but it is called empty emails. I do not have real time scanning enabled and the problem does only seem to happen when I add the header to the mail. Scanning against the dictionary is fine and even to the point of scoring the mail. I will have to log a support request.

Is there anything new on this? It seems it only happens to emails that are sent through applications.

I agree with "Ok, after some playing around I can see that my problem of blank emails only happens with a filter that adds a header for Junk. "

This was my issue - apparently blank files in Outlook created by MAI files like

Return-Path: <wffydffiraedsv@duerrbeck.com>
Message-ID: <M[20-25
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset="iso-8859-1"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook 15.0
Thread-Index: AdBiaFGq1v8j/rxWR/i0X9RTEqKMZQ==

Caused by bad headers from spammers. It was nothing to do with the filters. I don't know how to fix it.
