SPAM ATTACKS

Post by tamerhatoum »

We have an issue on our Mailenable and have the MTA enabled with MXSCAN software, everything were working fine, but today we have realized that we are not able to receive emails only able to send,
we have checked the logs on MxScan message logs,We have found that a stranger with an external IP and PostOffice (null) and Sender Email ( is not from the local domains ) trying to send to random emails in each millisecond and of course it being blocked , we also have Blocked the IP using Firewall inbound rules as well but we can still see it is able same logs happening which made our mail enable so busy.

Hi,

Mxscan filters at the MTA level. Your problem here is at the SMTP level therefore MXscan will not help your cause. You should consider integrating MagicSpam which executes its filtering at the SMTP level which may help suppress the inbound connections. Although these should really be stopped at the firewall level. You can also enable "abuse detection and prevention" within MailEnable to further help stop the abuse.
