WebMail Attachments

Post by phollows »

New install of Professional on April 24, 2020, v 10.30. WebMail users get the "only available to licensed installations" error when they try to upload attachments. Not sure if the error is new or that this is the first time a user has tried to add an attachment.

Reading the forums I see MEAISO.dll is the culprit, but what the installer put in seems to be correct:
Directory of C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\Bin

04/24/2020 09:26 AM 756,736 MEAISO.dll
1 File(s) 756,736 bytes

Directory of C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\Bin64

04/24/2020 09:37 AM 1,067,008 MEAISO.dll
1 File(s) 1,067,008 bytes

Total Files Listed:
2 File(s) 1,823,744 bytes
0 Dir(s) 91,185,856,512 bytes free
Mahcine has been rebooted since the installation. This is the only drive where the files exist. Help please!

Thanks

Hi,

Sounds like the Windows environment variable paths for the MailEnable BIN and BIN64 folders have not been set. Open a Windows command prompt and type: path. In the output check to see whether the MailEnable installation paths for BIN and BIN64 are present and match your active MailEnable installation paths. If they are not add them via Windows > Control Panel > System. Once you added them restart the server and retest.

They're all there. (Sanitized) path below:
Path=C:\PROGRA~2\MAILEN~1\BIN;C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\BIN;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Mail Enable\BIN64;C:\PROGRA~2\MAILEN~1\BIN64;C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps;
Is the order (bin before bin64, or vice versa?) significant?

Hi,

Order doesn't matter. Are there any errors logged within the Windows event log viewer under the "Application" log relating to when the licensing error occurs? Would need access to the server via RDP or Teamviewer to check further but for this to occur you will need to lodge a support request.

Nothing in the event log. However, I've found a workaround (sending only) and so offer this potential insight.

On the new email page, clicking the "Attachments" link gives the licensing error o' doom.

But, clicking "Browse" however works fine when sendign an email. It opens up the file browse dialog, allows a file to be attached, and the mail is sent successfully with the attachment. Yay!

Unfortunately, if I look at the "Sent" folder, clicking the attachments link or the file name both give the error popup (twice - once as a JS alert and once as an app popup). So can't review / download what was sent.

So looks like an issue relating to clicking the "attachments" link regardless of location. Since there's a workaround for sneding however (use "Browse" instead) I won't put a ticket in. we can always forward to a personal email client that would let the email be viewed and the attachment downloaded.

HTH.

Phil
