SYMPTOMS

Error ASP 0178 (0x80070005) when accessing web mail or web administration

CAUSE

This error can be returned if the IME_ADMIN account does not have access to the MSVBVM60.DLL file located in the SYSTEM32 directory.When attempting to access MailEnable's web mail or web admin, the following error is displayed in the browser:

Server object, ASP 0178 (0x80070005)
The call to Server.CreateObject failed while checking permissions. Access is denied to this object.  /MEWebMail/base/default/lang/EN/login.asp, line 123

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, grant MailEnable's IME_ADMIN account read and execute access to this file.

This can be done by opening a Windows Command Prompt on the MailEnable server and running the following command line:

C:\CACLS %WinDir%\SYSTEM32\MSVBVM60.DLL /t /e /g IME_ADMIN:RE

Ensure that the IME_ADMIN account has Read and Execute permissions to the MEAPWMS.DLL. Thisfile is located in the Mail Enable\BIN directory.

Attempt to access web mail or web admin and the issue should be resolved. Otherwise, search for further Error Strings within the MailEnable Knowledge Base.
