'Internet Explorer Script Error' when running the administration program

SYMPTOMS

When running the MailEnable administration program, the following error is displayed:

Internet Explorer Script Error
line:            316
Char:          5
Error:          Object required
Code:          0
URL:           res://c:\WINDOWS\system32\mmc.exe/reload.htm

CAUSE

There are two potential causes of this issue.

  • Microsoft Security Bulletin MS05-051 and/or MS05-052 can cause Microsoft Management Console (MMC) issues on some computers. (Microsoft has released a patch to address this).
  • This error is caused by an inconsistency between the MailEnable MSC (MMC File) and the underlying MailEnable MMC Snap-In DLLs. This most likely has occurred because a saved (older) copy of the MSC file is being used or because the MSC file was not replaced during MailEnable's installation.

RESOLUTION

Firstly, please review the following article in relation to potential issues caused by MS05-051 and/or MS05-052: http://www.mailenable.com/kb/content/article.asp?ID=ME020421

If this does not resolve the issue, please recreate the MSC file using the steps contained here: http://www.mailenable.com/kb/content/article.asp?ID=ME020274
