Repeat sending of messages with attachments

SYMPTOMS

When sending a large file attachment (e.g. 2MB), the e-mail appears to hang in the outbox of the mail client. Meanwhile MailEnable seems to be successfully sending it multiple times.

Log files or clients are reporting that a message is being sent/received multiple times.

DETAIL

MailEnable will only send the email after it has successfully received the full message. Firstly, check the SMTP Debug and Activity logs for any errors.

If there are no errors and the problem is only occurring on one machine, then check to make sure the timeout settings in the mail client are set to a reasonable length of time to allow the file to be sent.

If the problem is occurring on more than one machine, make sure that the "Inbound mail max deliver time" option in the MTA settings has not been changed to 0. This is accessed through the MailEnable Administration Program. Expand the Servers->Localhost->Connectors branch, right click on the MTA icon and select Properties from the popup menu. Also, make sure there is no resident anti-virus application running on the MailEnable directories.
