SYMPTOMS

A. I recently installed a third party control panel interface, but when I login to web mail it is very slow and eventually it gives a timeout error.

B. I keep getting ASP error when trying to add attachments or when i try to "save a message as draft".

CAUSE

Incorrect permissions on the MailEnable folders.

RESOLUTION

Solution for symptom A:

Remove or change the permissions on the group to "allow" for the MailEnable folder and ensure the settings are propagated to all child objects in the MailEnable folder structure that contain this group. Following this, run the ME-Installer utility and run the option "Common Installation" to fix any incorrect permissions on the MailEnable folders.

Primary solution for symptom B:

Run the ME-Installer utility and select the option "Common Installation" to fix the incorrect permissions

Alternative solution for symptom B:

Manually run the CACLS command by using the following command:

CACLS "C:\Program Files\Mail Enable\Postoffices" /t /e /g IME_ADMIN:F
