The MailEnable SMTP service is crashing intermittently. The following error is displayed within the Windows event log viewer.

CAUSE

A McAfee .dll that runs on the network layer is conflicting with the MailEnable SMTP service. The most likely reason for the crash is because the .dll may be used for the various real time scanning options used by the McAfee application e.g real time scanning, email scanning etc.. 

RESOLUTION

Disable all McAfee scanning services.

WORKAROUND

Exclude the MailEnable folders from the scanning services if configurable. If exclusions are not configurable within the McAfee application then the services will need to be disabled to avoid the SMTP crashes.
