Use a direct sending SMTP server only, inbound mail flows to O365

Post by nzkiwi »

I have a need to run on premisies our own SMTP server for local webservers and the like to send email to.

Ideally, MailEnable (ME) would just act an outbound SMTP mail server sending email from "company.com" domain name and signing the email properly with DKIM.

All inbound email for "company.com" will follow the eixsting DNS mx records and flow to Office 365 anyway.
And, if any email was send by our webservers to ME, it would relay any email destined to "xxxxx@company.com" to O365.

Is that possible with ME standard?
  • Act as an outbound email sender for domain name company.com
  • Also forwarding any email destined to company.com to 0ffice 365
  • Yet sending outbound as from yyyyy@company.com
  • Signing outbound email properly as from company.com with DKIM

Hi,

Yes, the Standard version can do this. You would configure company.com locally with DKIM to have any emails sent from that domain be signed. You'd need to redirect the inbound emails to company.com to Office 365 by setting up a domain redirection. For other destinations it would just send directly.
