Hi,
I had about 6 users connected to MailEnable via IMAP/SMTP and also webmail.
All was fine until a server in Iran started trying to log in via SMTP with bogus user names. Two users, including myself whose mail was working was then locked out - I was using Thunderbird. I blocked the servers IP address.
However webmail was still working.
I removed the account from thunderbird and then set up a new account. It found the server IMAP port 993 and SMTP port 465 but could not log me in - Thunderbird failed to find the settings for my email account.
I tried outlook but once again found the server but then timed out looking for my account.
Webmail continues to work.
Any suggestions

Re: Problem setting up an account in Thunderbird and Outlook
Hi,
First step would be emulate the behavior and then inspect/search the IMAP and SMTP activity and debug log files for the connecting IP address to see what errors maybe occurring at the time the client connects.

Thanks for replying.
The problem was tracked down to a DNS error. Within a day none of the users could access their email.
