Strange Mobile "Sent" Issue

Post by BlokusPokus »

Hello, all y'all!

Just getting into Mailenable and everything is working pretty smoothly, except for one thing. I cannot send email from my IMAP connected mobile device (Android).

I am pretty sure it is a firewall issue. I have enabled all ports 25/587/143 with NAT and port forwarding rules, but to no avail. The odd part is this:

I can send email from my local desktop (on same network as MailEnable mail server) via Outlook.
I can authenticate to the mail server with the Android device
I can receive (IMAP) email on the Android device
It says (sending email) on the Android device (but never actually does)
Email is showing up in the Sent Folder on both the Android and the Desktop (Outlook)

I am using no SSL, just plain authentication

Any helpful tips are greatly appreciated!

Best,

Oliver

Hi,

Have you inspected the SMTP activity and debug log files to see what is happening when the message is being transmitted from client to server?

Hi,

The debug log file reports the following:

10/17/21 18:26:39 ME-I0070: (recv) socket [820] was gracefully closed during [RSET] command by the remote client 172.XX.XX.236.

Have you tried another email client on the device to see if the same issues occur? Have you tried connecting over 4g and not wifi on the device?

This was over 4G. I reinstalled the account in the mobile app and the issue went away. Gremlins I think.

This may have been caused by me installing the account on the mobile device while being connected to WIFI and 5G at the same time.

Either way, all resolved.

Thank you very much for your speedy advice and help!

Best,

Oliver
