ME 3.64/3.65 installer resets permissions on root website

Post by mike@mc »

Hello,

Just a warning for those of you running a webserver on the same box as your Mail Enable web server. During the installation process for both 3.64 & 3.65 I noticed a dialog come up saying it was resetting the permissions on "E:\AppData\MC\" - which is the default (port 80) website running on IIS.

When I checked the NTFS permissions afterwards, the windows user IME_ADMIN now had read, list & execute permissions on my root website, which has nothing to do with Mail Enable at all.

I am guessing that the process is supposed to be setting permissions on the Mail Enable webmail interface - but accidentally gets the wrong folder if that folder is not the default website.

Anyway - I have removed the IME_ADMIN user from the permissions to my root website folder - and I have also checked that webmail still works.

This is a just a warning for anyone else out there who likes to control their website permissions. :D

Regards,
Mike
