X-PTR-Result: Generic, Fail in Message Header

Post by steadfast »

I am getting more and more spam emails to my inbox and they all seem to have X-PTR-Result: Generic, Fail in the message header.
I know I can go and reject senders without PTR which should resolve this issue but I would prefer to have these messages go to my spam folder.
Currently the security settings for the PTR record check is set to "Refer to System Spam Filter".

I can't seem to get these to be delivered to my spam folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Try and set the option to not reject senders without PTR under the SMTP security settings. Then create a global filter to trigger on the message header for: X-PTR-Result: Generic, Fail. For the filter action add the "Mark as Spam".

Thanks, that worked. I ended up having to use X-PTR-Result:* for the text to search for in the header. Using the full text "X-PTR-Result: Generic, Fail" would not work for me. It split that into two separate lines at the , character.

Hi,

You need to add the criterion value with wildcards.

I.e: *X-PTR-Result: Generic, Fail*

I have tried to add *X-PTR-Result: Generic, Fail* but I get 2 lines

*X-PTR-Result: Generic
Fail*

Hi,

Just use X-PTR-Result: Generic*

The comma will make it think there are multiple items to check. We only ever add the X-PTR-Result with "Generic, Fail".
