Email stuck in outbound queue

Post by refros »

I need to reboot my server every few days in order to release email stuck in outbound queue. It sends and receives email correctly for a few days then it starts getting stuck in the outbound queue. When I reboot the server, it then releases all the stuck email. This is a consistent problem. Mail Enable 10.37

Please help.

Hi,

Have you reviewed the relevant SMTP log files to see why the messages in the outbound are failing? Does the sender receive a bounce message containing reason for the delay/failure?

Hi,

Check the SMTP Debug log, it will indicate what is happening during the send attempts. Depending on your retry times, and the type of send error, emails may be sitting the queue waiting for the next send attempt, and restarting the SMTP service is doing an immediate send. But there are a lot of possibilities, so the Debug log would be the first thing to check.
