Hello everybody,
my boss would like the mail authentication to run over an external linux openldap server and wants me to look into it. i've tried a few things now but everything was unsuccessful. He saw the LDAP option in the postoffice options seen in the attached image and thought that it could be used with an external server.
I have found a post here from 2003 with someone asking if they had done what I want to do but noone answered:
https://www.mailenable.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2942
So now I'm asking here again:
Can a MailEnable Server authenticate against an external Linux OpenLDAP Server?

Hi,
No. The LDAP option in your screen shot is only for Windows authentication to authenticate against Windows Active Directory via LDAP.

Re: MailEnable Authentication against external OpenLDAP
Hi,
thanks for the info.
Is it then maybe possible to use AD LDS on an external Server for Authentication, instead of the OpenLDAP Linux Server?
