Unconditional double quotes around names in email addresses

Post by KimerPhil »

MailEnable is apparently placing unconditional double quotes around names in, for example, the From field:

"John Doe" <john@doe.com>

RFC 5322 states that the names should be double quoted *only if necessary*. Granted, this seems trivial. However, it appears that when Outlook displays the From field when looking at email in the right pane, it's only showing the email address and not the name if it was enclosed in double quotes (it does show in the left index column). There's some discussion about this at: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15555563/how-to-format-an-email-from-header-that-contains-a-comma

I can't see any way to change this behavior in any options settings. I'm guess it's hard-coded in MailEnable. Has nobody else ever mentioned this issue before? I can't seem to find any other discussion of it.
