I can setup Outlook to send email on SMTP ports 465 & 587 with SSL/TLS and never have an issue.
I have one client who insists on using Mozilla Thunderbird. I can retrieve email via IMAP with no issues. I can not ever get the SMTP part of Thunderbird configured to send mail via the SMTP port.
The instructions under mail configuration here at MailEnable do not work. Has anybody else figured out how configure Thunderbird client to send email on a MailEnable server?
Thunderbird working through SMTP
Re: Thunderbird working through SMTP
I figured this out. I use ehlo blocking to block all hosts that identify with an ip address instead of a FQDN. Most of those are hackers trying to guess your passwords on your email accounts.
Thunderbird sends the IP instead of the netbios name like Outlook does. I went into Thunderbird Configuration and forced it to use localhost when sending via the smtp connector.
Solved this problem.
