Hi to all!
We are running MailEnable 10.54 Enterprise and experiencing an issue specifically with iOS devices configured using IMAP.
iOS clients (tested with multiple iPhones and multiple mail apps such as Outlook, including the default iOS Mail app) do not receive notifications or show new emails automatically.
There is, no connection error, no authentication issue, no visible sync error. However, the inbox does not refresh until the user manually opens the mail app and performs a refresh.
Additional details:
- IMAP IDLE timeout is set to 6400 seconds
- IMAP service is running normally
- Desktop IMAP clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) work without any issues
- Issue occurs on both WiFi and mobile networks
- Multiple iOS devices tested
Is there any known issue or limitation with IMAP IDLE handling on iOS clients when using MailEnable ?
Could this behavior be related to: IMAP IDLE, SSL, background connection handling specific to iOS?
Are there any recommended configuration changes for optimal compatibility with iOS IMAP clients?
Thanks!
iOS IMAP clients not receiving new mail notifications
Re: iOS IMAP clients not receiving new mail notifications
I see that many clients terminate IMAP session by itself. The one working without problems is BlueMail, on botih iOS and Android.
BTW - SSL/TLS/STARTTLS is a must, neither Android or iOS will keepalive session without it.
hope it will help someone, some day.

Re: iOS IMAP clients not receiving new mail notifications
I just went through all of this in the past couple of months. I purchased an iPhone 17Pro because Apple is supposed to be so great...
However, through research, I discovered that IOS does not support IMAP Idle. So I returned my phone and went back to Samsung.
Personally, I couldn't believe it....

Re: iOS IMAP clients not receiving new mail notifications
Seems that BlueMail app is working on both Android and iOS, so give it a try if you can. In settings, use push instead of fetch and enable push services in Advanced settings.
