How to restrict what attachments are to be filtered by MailEnable


SUMMARY

How to configure a filter that will execute if a message contains a specified attachment.

DETAIL

This procedure outlines how to create filter to filter out specified attachments within messages:

  1. Navigate to Messaging Manager > Postoffice > Filters and create a new filter, name it "Specific attachments".
  2. Double click the newly created filter in the right hand side window to open the criteria properties window.
  3. Choose "Where the message contains attachments " and select the option to open the attachment list properties window.
  4. Scroll through the file extension list to see if the attachment extension exists in the list. If so, select OK to exit the attachment properties window. If the attachment does not exist then type it in the window and click the "Add" button to add the extension to the existing list.
  5. Add the desired actions that will execute when the criteria is met.

This procedure outlines how to create a filter that will block messages with any type of attachment:

  1. Navigate to Messaging Manager > Postoffice > Filters and create a new filter, name it "Any attachments".
  2. Double click the newly created filter in the right hand side window to open the criteria properties window.
  3. Next choose "Where the message has an attachment " and select the option to ensure it is enabled.
  4. Next add the desired actions that will execute when the criteria is met.
